Thans guys, as I said the steel bumper is one of the few parts of HW1 I still have left. (Volkspares have a different design) It was on the orange buggy most of its life, I replaced it with a chrome bumper a few weeks before the accident. HW2 will however also get a chromed Manx-style front bumper.

Hi Pine!

I've just started a buggy rebuild project, so thanks a million for the petrol tank Armand Botha was able to give to me last night!! Highly appreciated!! I don't have ANY technical know-how, so fortunately Armand is close by.......he also did my '76 Beetle, which is still running brilliantly.

Good luck with your bug!

Pine, have they arrived? Sent over 6 weeks ago now. Mrs DD was asking as you can't send insured post to SA from UK for some strange reason?

I have been on my own thread so long ago, I forgot that I posted this on May 26!

Anyway, thanks again Dutch :hangloose:
The idiot lights for the oil pressure and battery charge have finally arrived from the UK - thanks a lot, Dutch!

These are perfect for application in a buggy, because you really need to actually SEE them when they go on - and with the gauges being in the center of the buggy dash, normal lights in a normal Beetle speedo simply won't do.

Haven't been able to work on the buggy for a while now, for various reasons (pick one, any one! )

The biggest issue is that I had a problem with the Volkspares roll cage, the two main beams were not welded parallel, and it would have bothered me forever if I left it like that. Took it back to VS, and all the roll cages they had in stock, had the same problem. Took it to an engineer in Elandsfontein who said 'no problem' - but only got it back yesterday, after 7 weeks (thanks for the help with Craffie, Johnhoffe!). Updates to follow soon...
