(for now, at least)

Today has a been a bit of a sad day for me - I had to put HW2 in storage for the next few weeks as I'm off to the Mossel Bay area tomorrow for the holidays. Actually I would have rather preferred to take the buggy down to the coast, but she is still pretty far from being completed. This is the last pics I took before this afternoon before locking her up in a 3m x 4m facility at Fort Knox

A lot has happened with me the past few weeks. To start with, myself (and about 86 others) got retrenched from Altech Netstar where I've been working for the past 4 years, due to serious financial problems with the Group (if you plan on doing business with Netstar soon, talk to me first - I've got a few stories for you that would make the hair on your back of your head stand up  )

PS - hands up, who here HAVEN'T been retrenched this year?? :?

Nonetheless, the fact that I am the best qualified individual in my position, have a clean disciplinary record and that I was willing to walk the extra mile any time for the Company did not matter, but rather the fact that I am the only single employee in our department and have no dependants (and prefer not to get my collar brown with the boss every 5 minutes for a smoke break - I don't smoke) made it happen. Solidarity (of which I am a member) is gonna have GREAT fun with this one..

But thanks to the Almighty I literally walked into a new job in Pretoria, where I will start early next year - talk about Divine Intervention! Still a bit uncertain about the new challenge, but you know what they say when the going gets tough..

Ironically, two of my colleagues got fired on Friday for breeching of confidentiality clauses (client personal information), and they asked me if I would like to get my job back, can you believe it. Guess what they got from me, in no uncertain terms.. Image

All my stuff (not only the buggy) is currently in storage, and I will have to look for a place to stay in the Eastern part of Pretoria next year - with enough parking, of course  I will be less active here for the next few weeks (want to IT 'detox' a bit), but my phone should be on most of the time - please don't hesitate to call me if you are in the Mossel Bay/Gourits area and feel like a few cold ones :drunks:

I want to use this opportunity to thank all (and I mean EVERYONE) here on ACVWSA for their unconditional support, friendship and comeradery - I really treasure it, and my life would be incomplete without the Forum. A special thanks to IMPI for all his assistance with the build of HW2, and the phone calls everytime I just need to hear a friend's voice, Bugger for always being there when needed, and JohnHoffe (and family) for always making me feel welcome at their place - like last night, again :drunks: .

Thanks for a GREAT year here on ACVWSA - good luck to all, have a merry Christmas with your family and loved ones, and a prosperous 2011. Drive safely, and don't take any unneccesary risks. See you all again in 2011 :hangloose:

Image

HW2 should be at KKK 2011 - most probably still not completed, but at least I should be able to offer a spin to a select few (or the highest bidder! )

First thread post for 2011!

Mmmmmm.... here we are, halfway through February 2011 - a few days from the KKK Kampout (yet another target date missed), and I am not very much closer to a completed HW2 than what I was in December 2010 :?

The buggy is still in storage, I had a few changes with the areas where I'm working, and will only be moving into my own place next month, where the building (and hopefully completion of HW2) will proceed.

A few things w.r.t the buggy build have happened the past few weeks in the background though, all that will be revealed a bit later, but here is the pic of the 'footprint' gas pedal I got (thanks Syncromad! :hangloose: )

Image

It is about as big as a size 6 shoe, and simply bolts onto the existing accelerator pedal

Image

After finally giving in the roll cage for powder coating last week, I got it back today - very happy with the result! :hangloose:

Image

Image

The roll cage was the last big outstanding part for the completion of the buggy - now it is just a matter of crossing the t's and dotting the i's (I wish  )

Stay tuned! :hangloose:
