The roll cage was the last big outstanding part for the completion of the buggy - now it is just a matter of crossing the t's and dotting the i's (I wish  )

Stay tuned! :hangloose:
Please explain to me why the 'all-in-one' window frame compared to this:

I think Volkspares implemented the 'all-in-one' window frame to cut down on production costs, manufacturing the aluminum window frames is quite expensive

Upadate:

Well, the buggy is out of storage and standing in my garage again and in the past few weeks I've been fiddling with a few small things - the roll cage is mounted, but not bolted down yet and I am (still) in the process of working through the wiring. The steering shaft is with IMPI for some welding - turned out the BMW steering knuckle wasn't gonna work, so after going throug a pile of knuckles at a steering specialist, I eventually found one from a Mercedes Vito that is very close to the original VW knuckle (pics later).

Got the window frame rubber, but have to make very careful measurments and a carton template to have the safety glass cut for the windscreen.

And (once again) I have changed my plans for the wheels. Bought myself a Christmas gift (which I couldn't really afford) - a set of new aluminium Sprintstars from Zunaid. I then took them to the Wheel Shop in Johannesburg to have the rear ones widened from 5 inch to 8.5 inch, and the outers of all 4 polished - got them back a few days ago, and I am quite happy with the result! Unfortunately it will have to be second hand tyres at the rear for now...

Stay tuned!

The wheels looks excellent Pine. I might have to be on the lookout for other rims as well...we polished and painted the magnesium rims of the Puma (you saw them the day you were there) and a month later the clear laquer on the polished part started to bubble  . Unfortunately I have bought a full set of new 13" tyres for those rims already so I am stuck with them for now. Maybe we can phone Chip Foose and ask him for a set of 17" Wedding cake rims similar to those I have now? :hangloose:

Your buggy looks great my friend!!!!

Not really plannig to ride the buggy in the rain, but I installed the wiper motor this weekend, had to carefully drill two holes into the bonnet for the wiper motor axles, but everything worked out well. Found this very handy drawing on TheSamba that simplifies the wiring to the motor, it also explaines how the 'park' funcion of the wipers is wired -

Does anyone know where I can find the chromed early wiper blades that fastens to the arm with a little screw?

Call me a sentimental freak if you like, but I am very excited because last night I won this enamel bumper badge on an on-line auction. It is for the Roof of Africa Rally in Lesotho which, of course, was won a few years by a Lolette buggy :hangloose: Will have to find a special place on HW2 for it
