So, I finally have my drivers license!!! :D :D :D

This means that I need a serious kick in the you know where to get the blue beast running because I can drive it legally now

As it stands, the rear valance has been filled with body filler. It needs to be flatted and shaped, then will be sprayed matt black. This is just a temporary measure, the rear valance will be replaced with a fresh one when it can be found.

I have also sourced another rear decklid from Beetlepower. It just needs a bit of welding in the corners, but that is being taken care of and will also be sprayed matt black, as per the plans in the first post of this thread.

In the meanwhile, I have ripped out all the wiring from under the front bonnet and dash area. The wiring was in a seriously hacked state, so the best plan is to start afresh. I have most of the wires from that Variant that I stripped (that car was most definitely worth all the stress) so that will be used...

Pictures to follow. Now I'm seriously amped to have a running ACVW :!:

Hang in there - don't give up. This is going to be one cool ride! All the history behind it makes it unique!
Congrats on the plastic.

Not much work done. Have too many other things holding back progress, so I can't commit fully to working on this thing.

But in anycase, I'm sitting and figuring out the wiring at the back - what goes where - Before it goes to Dirk. Sorted out the Type 4 alternator conversion - now I just need the correct regulator.

Unfortunately, the engine has to come out again. I didn't fit the release bearing adapter sleeve correctly. I'm putting all of this down to the learning curve. :?

At this stage, I don't think that we'll make Cars In the Park.

But if this car isn't at the Swop Meet on August 30th, look out for a post in the Giveaways section called - Free Fastback!!

This entire project has been a big eye opener of note. I'm actually embarrassed to post on this thread!!  .

Show your face at CITP 2009, and receive a brand new external regulator, working condition, for free, from Pine. Deal?
