I also thought it could be that but non of the valves are jammed open. the valve its self appears to be fine. Could the push rod bend? or compress?

Please Guys

I realy need some help on this one. I dont have photos to show you so ill do my best to explane. The in let rocer arm has about 1 cm of play. How ever the valve is siting at the same hight as the other valves. so this means that the play is in the direction of the Push rod. so my thought is that the problem lies with ether the cam, the cam folower or the Push rod? Has this ever hapend befor to any one else?

Thats true the only problem is that it was a newly re profiled cam. the so called "newly rebuilt" motor had not even run for more than 2 hours total.

Hello every one. All the best for 2011!

Just a quick update. The motor is out again as the same thing has happened again. I have dissuaded to take a crack at it my self (what can i loose) strip the thing down to the block. had a peek inside only to find. that the cam and followers have chowed one another again. after only 120km.... this time I'm going for new parts. no more second had things.

Will keep you posted...

Recently had some issues with cams and followers as well, and these were all new HP parts, dudes I know have also been having issues, what I have found is: poor quality or spec of new parts, (for engine bits) stay away from anything with China on it. The second thing and probably the most important is the oil used during break in as well as what is in the sump after that.
Oil has changed a lot in the last few years due to regulations & to save newer co2 sensors as well as catalitic converters.
Firstly the zinc content which is very important lubricating agent has been reduced big time in all oils you get over the counter, do a search you will be shocked at the reduction of Zink, also stay away from full synthetics or anything with detergents, it kills our old fossil motors, quick.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......
