A bus named Grace
Hello all you dub nuts
Ok so i always wanted a bus my dad owed a bus when i was only but a boy. in August last year i bought a bus she is a yellow and white 77 2l and man what a beauty.
i found her in the eastern cape in Grehamstown and drove her back to durbs. (a 14 hours trip) with no problems the only thing is that she dropped the fan belt just out side durbs but being a 2 liter this was no problem. then over new years (08-09) three mates and myself toke a trip down to J-bay with no problems. man what a jol!!!
after that trip she was parked and the resto starts iv striped it out and on Saturday the shell goes off to the panel shop the motor is with an old friend and he is working his magic.
Here is a thread that i started on an Australian site (i did not know about Air Cooled VW at the time) http://forums.kombiclub.com/showthread.php?t=21641
I will be continuing this thread here (local is lakker)

Re: A bus named Grace
thanks
ja she is in good nick and with min rust.
ill probably end up redoing the the interior with a more up to date style. the colour scheme i think i will go for a nice pale yellow around the bottom and a sort of poler white top.
interior will be tans and browns

Re: A bus named Grace
Just a quick up date
Grace has gone to the panel beater finally after 3 weeks of waiting. I'll post picks later. the Bottom end has gone to jozi for some grinding, balancing and boring also a Otingga (i think thats how its spelled) profile on the cam and some miner polishing on the ports. all in all it should be good. the G-box will get sorted at the end of the month. things are moving now!!!! hell yeah!!!

Re: A bus named Grace
@ blitz i cant think of the name at the moment but i will get back to you.
@Bugspray the 2l rocks my world I'm hoping to have a good strong motor by the end of it, not after massive power just a nice bus i can crooooozzzzz in! the only thing is the Parts are few and far between but this just means that it will take a little longer to get on the road.
Guys can any one tell me where i can get Ball joints for the front suspension of the bus id like to do sort it out i don't think they need changing just yet but it would be good to knew it they are available how much i would expect to pay.

Re: A bus named Grace
@KK I am thinking a very pail yellow and white top. wanna keep here looking sort of original also she was born yellow and yellow she will stay, this is not a Michel Jackson story here... the interior will be shades of tan the motor will have hints of royal blue just to contrast the yellow. VERY NICE!!!!
