Hey Didi,

A few comments would be called for:

1: Awesome color choice dude. she will look proud on the road. What are your plans for the interior?

2: Does Johan Stander still live in Witbank and does he still build motors?? Met him a very long time ago and was most impressed by his work. I live in Durbs now and the 1 guy that was gonna do my cab, Dave Bennit, has immigrated over seas

3: Could you please post Jan from Centurion's contact details please...I need to discuss customizing labor prices with him - German Look for my Type 1

4: How far are you with the project??

1: Thanks, it was difficult to choose the right color. It had to look classic. I imported a set of doorcards and seatcovers. It's a velvet green and the doorcards has some cream.

2: Johan Stander now lives on his farm between Bela-Bela and Thabazimbi and still builds engine's. He built a 1600 for my 1977 Beetle SP as well as my 30hp engine for my Oval. Contact him on 0828926246 if you need a engine rebuild.

3: Jan Pretorius 012 653 7436 or jannie@ladacenturion.co.za

4: The body is nearly finished (as you can see) All the parts are cleaned and ready to go back on. I still need to chrome the bumpers and doorhandles. The engine is also rebuilt and a spit gearbox is waiting to replace the the later sfas box. I need to sort out the floorpan as well.

A quick update. The roof is sprayed and I decided to paint the petrol tank the same color as the roof. Still sanding. Nothing is polished yet.The body looks super straight.

Hi Didi!

Juan here(VW Extreme)
The ghia looks amazing! Can't wait to see it done! I'm sure neither can you. Where is the body work getting done?,seeing a lot of acvw's in the background.
This makes me get a bit depro! When I'm done with the rod and the 411 i'll taccle a ghia again. Are you going with the standard bumpers or do you have something else in mind! I'm sending a pic of my ghia(Sad story!) with early mod 411 bumpers.i thought it looked wicked!
Enjoy the project and keep us posted!!
Ciao

Hi Juan, nice looking Ghia! Jan in Centurion is doing the bodywork. His details is posted earlier on this thread. I've got standard bumpers which still need to be rechromed.

Here is a few more pictures of the ghia getting a suntan 8) (oh yes, Pine - the car's in the background will give you a scale for my project  )

Installed a new brakeline, removed the tin plate riveted to the floorpan from the inside. They used a tar type of sealant to try and bond the pan and the plate and water got trapped in between. Some major work needed on the pan. here is some pic's

The choke cable was also rusted, so I went to cable man today to have a new one made up.
