At the Camp Out you asked me about the 69 fasty from last year.
This morning, I drove out to see if it was still there.
The following are the pictures that I took this morning.
I hope this helps

How much do they want and is it possible to convert a manual to an auto

Whew - That was quick
I am a bit snowed under this week with work, but will go and check out the car in the course of next week. I wonder how much they want for it - Should be an easy project. And the fact that it is an Auto is an even bigger bonus..

You need to find an IRS manual gearbox (or a Brasilia Bus g/box) - Extremely scarce. I think that it would be possible to get a normal Kombi box in there, but it would require fabrication and you would have odd ratios

I could be wrong on this one, so will wait for the experts to comment

The guy who claims to be the owner said that he wanted R5000 for the car.

What's the chasis look like on this one?
... and this is the point at which I have to start kicking myself in the head.
Someone please remind me that I don't have space for yet another car!

I did not specifically check out the chassis on the car, but a brief lookaround did not show up a major rust or damage problem

Greetings everyone
I also had a look at this one last year. Failry solid still. Built in March 1969 - one of the last type 3's assembled in SA. Been in a bad front smash at some point. Poorly repaired - lots of wrinkles visible under the fenders and around the fuel tank. Both front fenders & bonnet are from a '68. Chassis rotten around the pedals and under the battery. Driver's door bottom hinge torn out of body. Electrical wiring in very poor state. Engine??? Looks like it hasn't run in years. This one will require LOTS of time & money to put right. I considered buying it as a spares ship but decided against it when I found my Notch.

Yesterday I saw a Fasty that seems to have been built in November '69. I didn't get any pictures of the car, but will be seeing it soon...
