My Beach Buggy

Post by Chris »

As you all know by now,I have a beach Buggy. Thanks to HR's help,I am now the owner.A friend of Lowlight had to sell it because of a financial situation.Which meant that I had to fetch it in Petermaritzburg.

I towed he all the way from P/maritzburg to Potch and then down to PE.

It has a Toyota 1T 8 valve engine. There are a few things that need attention like the K&L pins and brakes. But for the most of it,it's a sweet ride and does 0-100 in second gear.

I removed the aluminium box that was fitted in the back,The PO used it for fishing and put the box there for carrying stuff.I replaced it with a seat so that the kids can also ride in it.

The hidious revcounter also had to go,and the speedo wasn't working. After a call to HR and Tom,I took the speedo appart and moved it to the center and resprayed it all black. It works and looks much better.

The mirrors also had no function where the were sittin and I replaced those with bike mirrors.

So far that is all I did,and once I have some extra money,I will fix the other problems. But everytime I get into it and leave a BMW at the robot,it puts a huge smile on my face, and my son loves it.

It's interesting as the front indicators are in the body but the headlights have no space except on the bumper bar....very nice. What's the pan like?

The light is supposed to go on top like the orange one in the top photo.

The pan is perfect with not a spec of rust anywhere.

That black buggy is a mean SOB. If you think you had fun in the Fly. You better not ask John for a ride.
