"Barnfind"... He wanted 50k for it.
So here it is, a gem of a car that had been right under my nose for almost 5 years and I didn't even know of it. I stumbled upon this remarkably authentic '59 KG in a protected parking area of building adjacent to the one I work in. I literally walked up and down the pathway between buildings on my way to lunch with the car an arms reach from me not ever noticing it. A colleague went with me one day and squinted through the gap in the wall and said: "Hey, isn't that a KG?" Believing him to be the furtherest from one in the know about ACVW's, I pushed him aside to let a trained eye take a look and nearly passed out.
To cut an even longer story short, I ended up chatting to a car guard who explained that the owner came every month to crank the car over. I left a note on the dash (the car was left unlocked at all times), apologized for my forwardness and asked him if it was for sale. I left my mobile number. Sure enough a couple of weeks later the owner rang. It was his late mother's car that was left to him. He had kept it in storage in this building for ages. He said he'd sell it but for nothing under R50k. Not having the money at the time I explained he was to let me know first of any other buyers interested. I slept easy knowing it had been there for ages and wasn't going to be widely advertised as being for sale. Since, my phone had gotten stolen which had his number on. Shortly after that, the car had been removed too. I can't remember the guys name as he introduced himself by his surname only. Typical double-whammy scenario! I could probably trace the owner from the plates, but figure he'd think I am stalking him! Guess it's a classic case of not-meant-to-be...

Or standing some where on a farm and rusting to pieces. My bus came from a farm in George area and I located two other buses on a farm in the north. Standing in the veld rusting. Busy negotiating on a price for them. And I know of a oval Bug in a shed

"Oval in a shed" is both one hell of a statement and poetry to my ears BUSBFK! Dare to share a little more info?

In short a family relation does have a old oval in a shed it's been there for years and years now. Everything is still original and there. It used to be her husbands car. She is sentimental about it and does not want to sell it. It is in the NW so the oval is rust free and except for 3 inches of dust in showroom condition. Me and my dad is trying to get her to sell it to us but the is hesitant.

Goodness! My mouth is watering! Sounds like the most perfect car BUSBFK. I believe in making a nuisance of yourself and bother her until she lets you have it. There's a saying: "The loudest drum get's the most oil" I hope she parts with it, sounds like it needs a little TLC.

We are working on it. She is starting to crumble but might still take a while.

Re: "Barnfind"... He wanted 50k for it.
Hi Ron&Gill,
I haven't a clue where it's gone to. As mentioned in the story, it was standing in a building for ages and then all of a sudden the owner collected it and we have no way of tracing the car unless there's some supa-dupa way of accessing the owners details from the number plate....
Really sad as it was in fantastic condition!!

Anyone found any Things/Trekkers/Type 181/Type 182?
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

I found this one a few weeks ago (ex-Botswana). Was hoping to sell the Bay to buy it but no luck so far...

And that fasty? Is it also for sale?
If it's too low, you're too old
