The cars were transported from Uitenhage to CTN to be displayed at a 50 years (or was it 55?) of VW in SA. I don't think transporting them is a problem in itself; I think it's preferable for these cars to be shown as much as possible, rather than being hidden in the VWSA museum. The problem is that they obviously had no risk management process in place. If they did, they would never have transported all the cars on the same transporter. They should have rather moved them on three transporters, meaning they'd only have lost a third of the cars. In fact, it would have been safer if they'd individually driven the cars to CTN.
I hope they have since devised a risk management plan for their museum cars.

This is one of the tragedies. It is a real shame for history like that to be damaged beyond repair. I agree with Fig, they should have had a risk management plan in place.
Now that is sad. Those cars were all extra special! All the last of runs as produced at Uitenhage I presume: last beetle, last T3, Herbie, that 58 looked fantastic of course.
