Since I always wanted a notchback, and the price looked good. I jumped at the chance.
So last weekend - 16th of August 2009. We went to fetch the notch.
Arrived at the collection point and all I saw was a long driveway full of cars. Fortunately almost all of them were driveable, so we only had to push one out.
Then as I walked round the corner, is that a familiar shape over there?:
As I got closer, I can clearly remember myself thinking, what the hell are you doing buying another project!
Had to take out some miscellaneous (try spelling that at 2 in the morning
) parts lying in the notch, change a wheel, and then push it out up the driveway. The engine was out, so that made the notch easier to manouvre, but the engine was out, so it was a mission to load the engine IN the notch when it was already on the car trailer. 
I have the bruises to prove it.But, after said mission:

After seeing some of the work he did on Herbie, I figured he's the man to help!
Went to fetch some trim and the all important hens teeth, a.k.a. REAR WINDSCREEN
this friday.All in one piece and looking pretty good.
Bugoff stripped some metal off and inspected the car during the week, and so far we need the sheet metal behind the back seats below the level of the boot floor. The rear bottom quarter in other words, and the usual heater channels.
I went past to take a look and it seems that at some stage in the car's life, someone had put fibreglass over rusted metal. TSK TSK, they should be taken outside and shot. TWICE, just to be sure.
Pan of the car is actually not TOO bad, a rust spot here and there.
Will get the interior and seats in the next day or two.
This means I need, sheetmetal and rust repair.
Various maintenance items (brake hoses, fuel line, disk brakes, engine seal or two)
Suspension rubber.
Tie rod ends.
Window and body rubbers.
Perhaps a Bugger gearbox checkup when the time comes
New carpets.
New headliner.
New upholstery. And I am sure a hundred other small parts I'll only find out about later......
She looks kind of cool on those steelies don't you think ? How about some CHROME STEELIES ?
Speaking of chrome, also took the bumpers in to be rechromed, they were rusted through in a couple of places.
