BRRR, how cold is Cape Town then tonight?

To get slightly back on topic, how does cold affect fresh paint ?

im not so sure about out there but in here with my fan heater its all good.

as far as cold and paint go, i think they dont go well together because of the moiture that gets trapped under the paint. i can borrow u my heater if it'll help

In cold conditios painting SHOULD be done in a spray booth, period. But if push comes to shove, you can take the risk(not recommended though).

BTW, with -5°C you guys are getting there. But dont expect my sympathies until you have reached -15°C

Paint is couple of days old, so we should be ok, I hope.

Lol, not to worry guys, the car was painted on monday. the temp in the sun was 22deg. and i added a little extra hardener just in case. on another note, i missed a step and tore the ligaments at my left ankle. looks as if theres a tennis ball under my skin. damn it hurts.

Well, having read through the whole thread to research my response on the T3 bits wanted thread, I can only stand in awe.

Amazing stuff. I look forward to seeing the details. Whatever happened to the dash experiment?

Went to visit Bugoff today.

Almost couldn't get into his place because someone's rusty SC Split was in the way

The sad looking but complete bootlid I found has been painted and "massaged" by Ferdi to fit, and the shutlines look good.

Paint needs a touch up here and there and a good polish (another clearcoat even ?), but she's looking good .

I was asked today to start bringing lights, battery, and other bits and pieces of trim. Time to start reassembly!

Ferdi says he is never tired after work, so the engine will be started soon Hold thumbs all is ok ?!

Engine tin is nicely colour coded, new plugs, plugwires, distributor cap, custom type 3 fanbelt top cover plate made to replace the m.i.a. one.

Won't be using the top engine mount that was cut from the Notch, we, and when I say we I mean Ferdi , will be making an engine bar to support some of the weight out back.

No pictures this time. Only in the next episode. This was just a teaser....

As you can see this was car weekend. My daily got a new tyre and rim to replace the one swallowed by a pothole, fleetline got a seat, Notch got a visit, and I started some work on the beetle's roofrack.

Have a look around, there are several options available for supporting the engine, you can try to find a hanger bar, or make one, in which case there is a special mountng you can get for engines which comes off the oil pump cover. I guess your problem is the other way around, you've got a lounting point on the engine but not on the body. Maybe you should try to see if you can find one, or even fabricate one...
