When sanding bodyfiller to prep for paint must the surface be smooth without fine scratches or can the scartches be visible. Will paint not fill fine scratches. Any help

Normal practice is to sand with p36
then p80
then p180
Then use MS primer
sand with 220 next coat of MS
then go down progressively to a minimum of 800 if you want a really good job
The trick is to allow ample drying time between different coats I would reccomend the car stand in primer for at least 3 weeks before final sanding as primers and putties shrink somewhat before finally drying this causes those annoying scratches you see in some paint jobs
