The FLy
Well after not getting around to take the Motor and transmisiion out of the fly for quite some time now as Buisness and other money making things are first in line and the building of my Work space
What a pleasure to have a nice work space to work in on all the other projects
I got Mrs Bugger to help me today and we Removed the Rotary motor and the Transmission
This is not a job for the faint of heart as there are more ecu wiring and boost piping for boost controller and boost guage mechanical Oil pressure guage etc
But That is all that is nessesary to Keep tabs on things
This Picture was taken at Angelas Picknick
This was taken in around 2001 when I took the Fly to TNT for a Exhaust system Lead was used to smoothen the fenders that I have widend The start of the chassis The transmission with FTC main shaft Chrome molly side shafts Super diff
With out all the modifications I do the them now but now that it is out it will get all the nessesary like the HD aluminium side cover etc
Some might ask if I build strong transmissions for all my clients why not for my self,Reason is that I use my own trans for R&D as to see what components can handle what power

O, K, maybe a rollcage and wheelie bars before putting the engine back Bugger?!
Would love to go for a spin, just to get the adrenaline pumping again

LOL@ Karma
Rollcage NAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa
When I built the Fly the Roll bar with the Targa piece to the front are welded properly to the shell of the Bug
The front piece of the windshield has round pipe welded to it and 2 pieces of 10mm Square rod down to the bonnet to strengthen the front Window frame and all the supports on the inside of the doors and under neath
My Bug must be at least 200Kg hevier than a std bug
I am not saying the Bars is stronger than a Roll cage but I recon a Roll cage will spoil the look of the Cabrio
The next Project" Reborn of Flagbuggy " will be Purpose built with a Decent Roll cage in not with the old one that we took a lot of chances with I am still in 2 minds on what motor to use in Flag the 2.4 Type 4 that made 275HP with 600Nm on the wheels that I used to use or a serious 300Kw Rotary just for Drag racing
Both motors have Hickups one is cheaper to build and the other is less Reliable
This was in 1998 when John and myself just finished the buggy and a few races under the belt
Luckily I already had some Transmission rebuilding skills due to my Prefious Rotary and 2.5 Oettinger Beetles that chewed up Transmissions
This looks alot easier than it is

Re: The FLy
BUGGOFF it take a full 21/2 days to fit the Trans and motor with all the pipes and wiring back in to the bug and sometimes if you dont mark some of the stuff one tends to forget
Will you PM me your Address as I want to speak to you about a project that might come up

The tank is in the front std place and it was not to full
One can pick the buggy up when the back wheels are small but when you fit Large diameter
Wheels then the whole center of Gravity shifts to the front and it is unable to lift it up in front any more
Take a look at the small wheels on the one where I pick the buggy up
And then the Big Off Road Super diggers on the back of this Picture you will see the nose is much lower and slanted here
The Flag weighed in at 650Kg with all the bars and suports on it
The Plans with The Fly is to fit the HD side covers on the diff with a few nessesary mods and a longer croozing 4th gear to get it prepared for next Year Speed Week
My friend Arthur From AJ Racing is just going to check the motor over and then will fit everything back and get the fly dynoed and to the track to get some times out of her
How is your project going have not seen many updates lately also buzy with all other things
