Heavy Type III doors

Post by calooker »

I have a problem with the doors on my Type III, the car stood for 9 years so the doors remained shut for that long, what has now happened is the hinges are now very very tight and the doors are a pain to open close, I have tried Q20 nearly a whole can but no luck, any ideas ???

I think some of the models had a little oil/grease cap on the top of the hinge... Might be worth having a look...
Alternatively have someone lift the door while you have a good spray with the q20 to see if you can get some into the hinges..

BTW Q20 is good for releasing but the door will start squeeking in a few days. Use some mineral oil or hinge grease.

Good luck.

If you are to repaint then use a torch to heat the hinges at the hinge part the heat breaks the rust and loosens them quik but you loose the paint.
I also use some oil and soak them liberally.
