Martha My '68 bug

Post by My bug »

I never knew there was such a great site for aircooled VW's in SA! I have a 1968 bug called Martha, which has been mine for 3 years now. My Grandfather bought her (he is like me, crazy about beetles) and no body in our family wanted her, so I got her. We used her to travel to a farm we had a house on for a year, as you can see in the picture. She is in need of a respray, but because I live in the Karoo, it can wait until I have the finance. Like all beetles she is opinionated and full of personality. I think she is in need of an overhaul because after half an hour to an hour of running the oil pressure drops DRASTICALLY to 5 pounds per square inch and the oil pressure light comes on! I love origionality and want to keep her as origional as possible, however I made one exeption of installing a CD player. I need a light switch, the origional type that has a dimmer and a windscreen wiper switch. Otherwise she is intact (exept for a few dents).

that sounds like it could be oil relief valves which arent working correctly, or the wrong grade oil (too thin?)
