If you thinking of doing it yourself and don't have the tools to start with, then I suggest you get someone with the knowledge & tools to do it. You need to know what you're doing, or you will stuff up your heads. 1 tungsten carbide cutter costs about R250, you need at least 3 different ones to get the job done, more important you need a large compressor to run the grinder, as well as a few lap wheels for the polishing and a lot of patience to do it right, it is not a simple job.

Not the best job in the world, but far from the worst... heads will recieve a redo in the near future.

The How to Hotrod your VW that is or was sold here by Motorbooks in JHB was R280 about 3 years ago, probably more now, it has a lot of info from the 60,70's era, a bit dated but if you need something more recent get the Interchange manual by Keith Seume (spelling??) it has more updated info on carbs heads cams etc. The info in this book relates only to the T1 motor.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......
