Re: A Frame
Sarel, I have also tried Werner but no luck. Please let me know when making your one, I will either pay you for one or let me know you want to do it. I really need my own a frame. Thanks.

Re: A Frame
I will def take one, if you need help also with the building of it I will gladly assist. One thing though, Werner's a frame could fold in half lengthwise to make storage very easy, maybe when making yours you can also add this handy feature.sarel.wagner wrote:Can make more, will build a Jig to make these then. Re: A Frame
Sarel, I found this pic of the A Frame I used when towing my beetle in Jan, used the owners A Frame... worked wonders and we can just work the folding bit out...

Re: A Frame
Sarel,
My tow bar for the buggy
Two long legs 1000 long x 25mm x 25 mm x 5mm angle iron
Legs 800mm wide
Two parallel sections at ball side 100mm long and the other ends bend parallel with vehicle c/line ( 80mm )

The buggy have plates welded to the torque tubes to bolt the t/bar but can be modified with heavy duty “u” bolts
Biuld by Towmaster
cheers

Re: A Frame
Pretty easy to make it fold up - hinge it at the points shown with positive locking mechanism.
Note the specific use of colour is for Blitz's benefit in reference to the eyelid thread
I've used a fold up one made from tubing (maybe it telescoped?) with chains running through it that wrapped around the beam and tightened when it was hitched up. Shoulda taken pics......

Re: A Frame
The other A-frames posted look nice and easy to make...however the owner told me when I borrowed his because of the bend downwards it helps with towing and also when turning....I reckon if you use either one of these try and go for the downward bend....sarel.wagner wrote:Thanx guys, really appreciate the info, will keep ya all posted.

Re: A Frame
Zubs is right.
The buggy has got no interference for the tow bar from attachment point to ball and when hooked up it slopes upwards.
With a beetle or gia you need it to come out parrallel with the ground for some distance to clear the bumper and panels behind the bumper. (like the other picture)
cheers baron
