Beetle Daily Driver

Post by Donovan D »

How safe is a beetle in terms of being a daily driver and getting stolen in SA
I would like to have a beetle as my daily but a bit in two minds,
I know the way it looks can affect it aswell,

How many of you use a beetle as a daily and what year is it?

Trust me, have noticed through friends the past 2 weeks, ANY car is a target to being stolen in SA, so dont use that as a deciding factor to get 1. A bug has as much possibility of being a quick getaway car or a "ride for us back to our underworld" as a citi golf or toyota....

Thats true, If they really want the car, they are going to take it, you can only make it harder for them,

the '59 is my daily driver. currently do about 1000 miles a month. if the ****'s want to steal it, they will, as they would with a 750i, S600 or a shittygolf.

before my engine cock up at the beginning of the year, my beetle was my daily, was clocking over 3000km a month in it. I'm Actually really missing driving my car :( hopefully 2 more weeks and we sorted!
From fastest to slowest:

Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods
B8 A4 Avant tdi, towing made easy

Splitz, theres 4 daily drivers behind your dads house that are daily drivers. :D

The one I paid for but don't own anymore has just had the original 1200 motor overhauled and put back in. My son is a very happy chappy again. Seeing that it is all his own work.

The 4 beetles in question get more milage around Brackenfell than any other cars.
Why do we celebrate the guy that invented the wheel??
Surely we must celebrate the guy tat invented the other three

A bug as a daily is the best. You'll be the the only one smilling in the trafffic. Sold my Bakkie and now using the bug and bus for work for a month and am chuffed again ! If i didnt need to do such huge mileage then i would have never moved away from the bug as a daily ! :D

I now drive the 71 everyday as I do not have the use of the Co bakkie anymore (f#*%ing sales reps)
I do about 80-100k a day apart from Monday and Tuesday almost 250(Pretoria and back)
Strill need to workout what the km per tank is :hangloose:
