Anyone know my Ghia

Post by TC79 »

Hello all, I’m new to your forum and i have just spent hours looking through all your posts. You have some lovely cars 8) .

I thought I’d try and do some searching for the previous owners of Delilah, my 1960 Ghia. I’ve owed her for nearly two years and apart from when I’ve been working on her she’s my daily driver……and I love her to bit.

So the details

She was imported from South Africa in 2003 by a guy called Mr N Palmer, who lived at 3 Dories Drive, Froggy Farm, Simons Town. Her South African registration was PPH612A. She left the production line on Friday 13th November 1959 and her original colour was a one year only malachite green ( which is still very present under her current colour). I think she was re-sprayed whilst in South Africa, in yellow with a black roof. Her engine was replaced with a 1966, 1300 and at some point I think she had a bump on the passenger front wing because it has a new outer wing and the fresh air channel is a bit creased.

Here she is :D

And this is her with our 65 Bug :)

If anyone recognizes her I’d love to know some history or see old pics, but if not it’s given me chance to show her off
Thanks

Welcome TC79. Nice looking Ghia. 8) I'm sure someone will recognise her.

That's not the registration number; it's the vehicle register number. A Simonstown car would have had a CA registration.
