Beetle Day or lack thereof.

Post by GavinHuart »

Hi guys!!

I know we're all still caught in the wake of Sunday's awesomeness @ the Mint and a lot are probably all Beetled-out but what a disappointment seeing hardly any Beetles on the roads today. I set off for work at 5:30am in the old bug (not usually the daily driver btw) and not one other bug spotted between the Westrand and Sandton. I had to pop out again just now and did a trip from the office through to some mall on the corner of Beyers and the N1 using pretty major roads. I came back a completely different route just in case they were all in hiding... Only saw one nice early '70's snot green one with a rather miserable old man gripping the wheel. He wasn't interested in a thumbs up at all. Quite sad for this special day of the bug.

Anyone else in theirs today?

I drove the oval the 6km to work this morning. I was planning to go out and run some errands at lunch time, but didn't get a break, so the car spent the whole day hobnobbing with new BMWs and Audis in the company parking garage. I'll be driving the 6km back home shortly. :hangloose:

I left home (West Turfontien) this morning at 6 am, dripped the wife off at work ( Corlett Drive, Illovo) then back onto the highway, down Marlboro Dr onto the N# into Edenvale and then the reverse trip all over again
Also only saw 2 beetle :(

Glad some had made the effort :hangloose:

@ Fig: I often park mine next to some glamorous ML Merc or A5 Audi deliberately. I look at their car and think to myself "I wonder what that'll look like in +- 50 years time?"
