Sub box queries

I read somewhere on this forum that in a beetle due to driving with the windows down, you need a ported sub box?
I have two of these subs in a box that is too large so i need to make a new one...

So what i need to know is...the recommended volume is 3 cubic feet? So if i have 2 subs i need 6 ft of volume or can i get away with running a smaller volume?

recommended volume is 3 cu.ft.... for what type of box. Sealed boxes are normally smaller than vented boxes. Those subs you have are 500WRMS each.... stick them into a sealed box and if its not loud enough, then turn up the amp slightly if your amp is able to deliver the power.
I have a 4x85WRMS amp driving a 6.5" split up front and a 15" sub in a 70 liter sealed enclosure at the back. Doing 140km/h with the windows down does not stop you from hearing any part of that sound system, you just need to turn up the volume.

Bwahahahaha.
Go with a Sealed box, slightly smaller. You would be fine. What TZ is right. Just don't over crank up the amp.
Sealed enclosures are ore forgiving and I feel better suited to DIY builds...

depends which measurement you put the other bits in as....
easiest way to calculate it in your head is to use dm (decameter). Where 10cm = 1dm
1dm x 1dm x 1dm = 1 liter
2dm x 2dm x 2dm = 8 liter
1cu.ft = approx 27 liters if I remember correctly

depends on the sub, some want small boxes, some want larger. Check the spec sheet for your sub and see what it says, then try to stick with that.
