How long to do a kombi Interior?

Post by KYLERUB »

Hi all

Just out of interest, how long does it take to get your whole kombi interior done. As in all seats, hood lining and floor.

thanks

Howzit, what do you mean ? Have the seats re-upholstered, roof lining redone ? And the floor, do you want to replace the metal or just put in another rubber mat?

Re seats and roof lining - depends on your upholsterer, insist on seeing previous jobs to get an idea of his workmanship, and don't rush him.

You might battle to find an good condition second hand rear floor mat. But it all depends which way you want to go. Isn't yours a camper interior?

Cheers

Well, When i bought the kombi it never had back seats so i made my own frame work for the seats (an L shaped style) but still need to get them covered. As i have not found a floor mat for the back I was thinking of putting bin lining like in the back of bakkies, and have a carpet made that i can remove and clean when i have to or just leave it out when going to the beach etc, what do you think of that idea.
The kombi is going in next week to be sprayed. they will be stripping the whole interior and respraying it as well so im getting the seats re upholstered and everything else on the interior.
This is what the interior looks like at the moment. I was just curious on aprox how long it takes to do the interior.

:hangloose: Nice project. I think it took about 2 weeks for the upholsterer to do my seats, just plain vinyl, 2 cab seats, 2 rear bench seats. If they know what they're doing it does'nt take that long. Even the roof lining, once they have the material, they can do that in a day. Looking forward to seeing the new paint job and interior 8)
Luke will want his bus back
The original floor mat would'nt work for you as it has "gaps" to accomodate the seat clamps/mountings. I agree with Hloni, if you are a beach bum, a bakkie lining would be practical.
