I bought a Type 122 Industrial engine coupled to a Mattei Hydrovane SR45 compressor last year on an auction for the bargain price of R6000.00. Secondhand Hydrovane's go for R25000 or more!
Wednesday morning a big Atlas Copco compressor we use in our brick factory destoyed itself :( . Our standby compressor is used somewhere else, so we decided to see what the VW could do.
By 9 o'clock everything was checked and the VW & Hydrovane coupled to a JC Steele 18H Reel Cutter, working together with a Steele 90 claybrick machine. It worked perfectly :D :hangloose:
Yesterday it ran a full days shift, only being stopped at teatime and lunch to be checked, with no problems to be seen.
Today it is running again, only being stopped for tea & lunch breaks to be checked. Talk about a road trip!
Hobbies & Work can be combined :hangloose: :drunks:

Nice!

Looks like that big round thing in front is a cover for a flywheel or ring-gear. The starter is in front, as the hydrovane leaves no space for it at the back? And that thingy above crank pulley must be the speed-governor.

The unit above the gen must be the pressure regulating part of the governor. (Reducing speed if required pressure is reached).

Twin exhausts look like they can be used to push the trolley as well!!

Score 3 out of 3, Dawie! :hangloose:
The exhausts look like they can be used, but that hydrovane is moer heavy
There are 2 handles that go into the frame next to the exhausts to wheel the thing around.
It nice to see how that pressure regulator thing next to the (empty) gennie operates the linkages to the speed governor and then to the carb :D
One of our mechanics remarked: " Kyk hoe trap hy die vet homself "

Found the right industrial exhaust today, so no more "Wheel barrow" exhausts here! :hangloose:
Thanks Merlin! :D
