Mercedes GLK

Post by Pine »

While being in Clarens, in the Eastern Free State two weekends ago for a wedding, I spotted 5 of these weirdish Mercedes-Benz cars, all LHD and with German registration plates. Three of them were camouflaged (badges removed), but I managed to take a pic of this one whilst driving past it en route to Fouriesburg (zee Germans were taking a leak next to the road and caught with their pants down - no pun intended  )

It turned out to be the new Mercedes GLK - an off-road version of the current C-class models. Similar in appearance to the ML-class, but much smaller. MB AG categorically denied a few months ago that they plan on releasing it in SA, but those Germans were clearly testing it (for our local conditions, perhaps?). You saw it here on ACVWSA first!
