Spotted this morning in downtown Johanneburg
Seems like the same conversion as on this Bay I photographed in Brixton (not too far from the above location) a couple of years ago

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

That is absolutely hideous.
Perhaps it was some kit to hide the radiator for a water cooled conversion. It clearly didn’t do a good job because it appears to more ugly than I hacked up front end of a standard bus to fit a radiator.

That's exactly what it was. That was done by one of the many V6 conversion specialists that popped up in the 1980s in response to the need for more power in ACVW buses. IIRC, Car magazine even did a review of that thing back in the day.

The yellow bay is looking a bit worse since the pics posted by Pine was taken ,But most importantly its still earning its keep by carrying full loads of vegetables every other day from the market and back . The Vrot V6 was replaced with a Toyota 4Y engine according to the owner .

Got no problem with the 3 L conversions pine. I know they made excellent tow vehicles but yheeeeees that nose section just doesn't do it for me. I've seen V6 conversions with the standard nose and it just looks much cleaner.
