Think the problem the Landcruiser 100 have (also common with some other expensive 4x4's), is: Obesity. (Overweight).
With all the gimmicks and extra comfort thingies, it's empty/unladen weight is nearly 2400kg. (About twice that of a baywindow kombi).
Last week i went on an outing on the Vleesbaai 4x4 route in the sand-dunes. There was a Landcruiser 100 and a Suzuki Jeepie in the convoy of 5 vehicles. In the beginning the guys with the expensive toys laughed at the little Suzuki, and said it has a "little sewing machine engine".
Even with it's 285x 16 inch wheels, (deflated to 0.75 bar), the V8 Cruiser got stuck several times up the steep route in the dunes. The light little Suzuki (with it's small standard road-type tyres), went everywhere the Cruiser could go.
Was wondering how a beachbuggy would do there.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).
