I know about safari windows on split busses, but that is always the front two windows that open, has anybody done it to the rear window?
Saw these pics and it made me think, might not be a new idea but I can't seem to recall seeing it before.
Anybody done this..

I have seen it Henry , I thought of building one for my bus at one stage but decided against it im worried that the exhaust gasses might come into the bus .It is cool and "cool" , I like it !

On a dusty road that will suck a goodly quantity of dust into the wagon.
I say do it! Then plant potatoes in the resulting soil. Then let them grow to a nice size. Then pick them. Then make moonshine.
You know it bothers me that these early bays have different wheel caps. Mine has late bay style caps, I assume that the Early Bay fell into a period of production change. I like the early look!

Re: Anybody done this..
Yes, those do look cool, but can only be used when the bus is stationary. When a bus is moving, there is a large low pressure area immediately behind the bus, which tends to pull in exhaust gases, dust and oil drops. If your rear hatch seal is bad or you open the window then dust/exhaust will enter the bus. That's one of the reasons VW moved the bus exhaust tailpipe to the side, so it exits into the air stream.
On a related note, Gerhard from Volksieshop tells me the fuel economy on his 70 westy improves when he tows his small luggage trailer, apparently because it smooths out the air flow behind the bus. I will be testing this as soon as I've finished rebuilding my trailer.

Can't see the images, but have seen what you are flaming about.
It would be very cool on a single or double cab. On my previous daily pick up it had a slider in the back window that when you opened it a little it circulated all the air and kept the cabin cool without the use of the aircon.
Agree that on a full bus it would suck up the smell and taste of the engine.... Fun but not so yummy
