I did that....lotsa nice builds on there but im looking for someone locally (if any) that I can get some advice from.
I`ve mailed the dude @ "MY COVIN BUILD" and he did not respond either and its been 3 weeks.

Is Pelican Parts the only reliable Porsche spares supplier? Anybody locally, other than agents?

Jbug, I'm not sure why you would want to do a replica 911 Porsche. It's going to cost you the same as a real one and unlike the replica, the real one will only appreciate in value. The only replica worth doing is a Speedster, because it's a 2 million Rand car and there are many replicas around , so more parts. I can get you a 1982 Targa for 100 k It has no rust and only needs the upholstery done. If you use the guy we use it's going to cost you probably 20 k So all together 120 k for a great car that will only appreciate as I said. If you really wanna be stubborn and do a replica , I also know the guy to speak to . Check out http://www.exclusiveconversion.co.za/
You're also welcome to call me at 082 825 4875 or check out my website http://www.aircooledwonders.com I have some 911 parts on there .
Oh BTW read the Urknall and Silverado stories on my site Those are both 911's I picked up for very little in KZN So there are projects to be found.
Hope this helps.

Hi Jbug

Sorry for not responding earlier. My work kept me very busy--only two days off since Jan2 working 12to 18 hrs every day----
To start of it is better if you restore a real Porsche as Werner said you can make some money with a good restoration. I have seen some very cheap oneson auto trader and Junk mail, and bear in mind you will never been accepted by the real Porsche owners with your"" plastic Porsche" But if you want to give it ago good luck there is a place for both in the sun.
The build of a kit car is a creation of your imagination and test of your technical skills ---and to hell with what other people say or think---
The COVIN club is a very good source of information andthere are some very helpfull people but they dont like strangers jumping in with a lot of questions without becoming part of the comunity --- similar to this site--- You must be accepted before they give.
There are a few 911 bodies available in SA but again its already said it will cost you alot of money to replicatea good 911. First you must establish what type of body you have ---will it fit a beatle pan (taper to the front ) or aT3 (more square to the front) Parts can be sourced from T3,Beatle-pre 63 for large oval head lights or later models for smaller round lights. But any car can supply parts as long as you are willing to spend long hours in scrap yards to get ideas. You will have to study the evolution of the911 to understand the changes that was made over the years because mixing different model components will soon make your car look cheap and patch up.
The next important thing to esablish is do you love working with fibre glass work-- not only like it,but love it because you will have to eat sleep and live with it.
So what was your question again?

GIVE US PICTURES PLEASE.

cheers baron

The nose section is actually the one thing about it that I don't like. Baron nailed it spot on when he said that you have to know the models and also when certain changes were made otherwise you're left with a mangled mess of parts.

That car has a lot of potential.........most of the hard work has already been done.

The nose section, well only just the headlamp trim ring is somewhat "make-shift" to accomodate beetle lamps. Remove that and you`re sitting with a 911 Carerra 2 or "964" as the Porsche guys call it.
