My '58 Type1

Post by boxerulez »

So yesterday I helped an old friend to fetch his new '64 unrestored well looked after Beetle(of which I will add pictures tomorrow) and he has been sitting with a '58 that he wanted to restore for a while now,

Now this 58 is parked exactly where he needs to park his '64, also the pan for the '58 and all the fenders and panels cut out of the donor car for this '58 is cluttering his shed.

You guys saw I advertised it for him on here earlier this month with exactly this problem in mind, and he had no response so yesterday he asked me if I wanted it, and so it ended up mine, I am sloping a second driveway to the other side of our place this weekend coming and then Ill go and fetch it all. Its all complete but it has a lot of rust that needs to be cut out and reworked with the panels from the donor car, a bit much on my plate right now but im sure another few months more rust will not make a massive difference to this already rotten shell.

It will need to be welded onto the donor heater channels as they are also rotten off, and around the back window and all4 fenders there are rust holes, however I am getting all the fenders and doors/lids from the donor car aswell which are still in original paint,

I am hoping I can get most of the welding done with minimal damage to the og paint and run around in a powderblue/green ratty thing soon :D

As soon as she is in my driveway pictures will be posted.

This one was sold on this weekend as I just did not have the space for it :( at least its gone to someone that will also rebuild her, and not sell her on for scrap metal.
