That car has been for sale for some time now... whether it's a good swop of not, best would be to go have a look at it first.

Re: 1303 swop for a spyder, what to do?
If you have any doubts then I'd say don't.
Do you like 1303s? Is a 1303 on your wish list?
Because 1303s are quite rare in SA, some people believe they are desireable. Personally, I don't like them at all and would never buy one. I'd far rather drive a 60s or 50s Beetle. But if you like them, then go for it.

I believe that that car is a 1303S. I has different gearbox and suspension and is a rare model. Spares might be scarce.riaanj wrote:I have my Porsche Spyder - http://www.aircooledvwsa.co.za/viewtopi ... =3&t=25644 - up for sale or swop, this oke wants to swop me for a 1303 beetle - http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-Car ... Re: 1303 swop for a spyder, what to do?
1303s are not rare at all, just rare in SA, so, yes, parts will be hard to find (eg, front Mcpherson struts).MrT wrote:I believe that that car is a 1303S. I has different gearbox and suspension and is a rare model. Spares might be scarce.

Re: 1303 swop for a spyder, what to do?
I hear you and I agree that I'd rather have an older beetle and I would prefer one '66 & older, but the 1303 for some reason is talking to me, I can see it in white or silver with a black interior and lowered with a set of gasburners on..fig wrote:If you have any doubts then I'd say don't.

I lost interest in it.. I was never actually that into Spyders but this one was offered to me by a friend and was in a sad state, so I took it on as a challenge..MarshallGTi wrote:why are u getting rid of the spyder?

For me personally they are awsome in terms of handlig with a few mods see my long term project benzin for some inspiration
as with all late beetles rust is an issue but mostly fixable Porsche 944 bits practically bolt on
The factory rallied them search for zaltsburg beetles
Armand

Who cares how it's done in California?

I checked out BENZIN, good luck with the project, It's cool that Porsche bits fit on the car and the passat rack..IMPI wrote:For me personally they are awsome in terms of handlig with a few mods see my long term project benzin for some inspiration

I went and checked the 1303, it looks to be in no worse condition than my spyder, there is some rust but as Armand said - fixable..

Re: 1303 swop for a spyder, what to do?
Hi
your 1303 was at yesterdays cars in the park meeting...
it is a rare car,no doubt.... but if I had the option to swop my spyder for it, I wouldn't.....
and not to mention your car is soo much better looking than mine!
My 2 cents worth
