What model do you have?: 1973 beetle

Need your help and advice

Post by zulu »

HI all,

I have not attempted a restoration nor rebuild for many, many years. being a bit a of a vw supporting man, i I have just bought a 1973 beetle, and want to pull it apart, and start from there.

Here's my dilemma: Engine & gearbox. I initially wanted to place an 2,5 sti subaru package in the back. I am getting an enormous amount of negative feedback about safety and over all balance. obviously rigidity and braking is my number one concern.

Have any of you performed such a manouvre before, is the bug's pan that brittle? I would appreciate all the advice I can get?

Welcome to ACVWSA zulu. :hangloose:

You've come to the right place. However, you'll get a better response after telling us a bit about yourself in the newbies thread.
