59 Deluxe Microbus Samba
Hi to all
I would like to introduce an old car with a new owner. I am the extremely proud and happy new owner of Figs 59 deluxe mircobus (Samba).
Firstly I would like to thank Synchromad for telling me about the car. I really appreciate your help.
Secondly to Fig and Gisela. Where do I start, Thank you for the oppertunity that you have given me and making a dream come true. I never expeted to find a Samba in SA and its really great to be the new owner. I really appreciate that you kept the car for me even when other parties pressured you to sell it. I cant tell you how much it meant to me. I will look after the car and fix her up slowly but surely. I spend all my money on buying it so restoration will have to wait. That does nont mean I wont put it on the road. I will look after the car and you are welcome to visit her any time you want.
I placed the car under projects as I wil slowly fix every little part and put it back in the car. As soon as I have all the rusted panels I will do a complete rebuild on the chassi but at this stage it is at least 2 years in the future.

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Re: 59 Deluxe Microbus Samba
Hi to all
I am hoping to get my car to the Pretoria Aircooled day on the 7th of October. So I have been working on it for stupid hours after work every day. I will try to get some pictures this weekend. I have sone quite a few things to get car up running and just cleaned up a bit. The car is really not in bad shape underneath I expected more rust on the chasiss.
Complete braking system stripped out and sent in for overhauI
Cut some plastic carpets and cleaned off some over spray.
The new tyres will be on the rims by no I just need to go and pick them up.
Bought various parts from Pierre (Bugger) like door locks 12v alternator, seat clamps and a few loose parts. Thanx Pierre
Will spend this weekend to strip run through a few other items and possibly start car on new battery and change to 12V
I really struggled to get the one rear wheel nut to move so I made a bit bigger spanner and tied the car to a pole................
