So Sean's (FooFunk) panel came in on Saturday.
Justin and I threw a hoop style rotisserie together


Rolled it outside


And tipped it over


Justion has a bit of work ahead.....

We need to determine how 'correct' this job needs to be. Given the plans for the motor and use of the vehicle, I'd like to see upgrades and improvements over the original.

my Boss has copyrights on all of them hey !!

maybe i can come down early Nov and bring more panels to fill the gaps like a puzzle !!
i think it all would depend on how original the client wants to keep the bus....i think one can get quite creative with Barry's talents and no "by the book" ball and chain !!
...you guys are doing a splendid job so far...and all you've made is the rotisserie !

Took about two hours to get the steering wheel off!

After applying penetrating fluid at regular intervals, the nut eventually backed off with some encouragement from a metre long power bar.

Regular tricks to loosen the wheel were doing nothing, so we attached a slide hammer with 4kg weight. Nothing.... (didn't get pics of this)

Next up we made up a puller




All that happened was the angle started bending.....

So on Jacques' advice we added more heat, this time in the form of 1.5 litres of boiling water



So we missed our tea break, but did get the wheel off!


Just another illustration of the joys of doing this kind of work for a living. Always fun explaining to a customer why there is a R600 bill for an item when "but all you had to do was loosen one nut and take it off!!!"


Justin also got the front beam out (thankfully this came out fairly painlessly) and various other items removed.
We need to get our air lines completed and the big compressor and dryer hooked up then we can start blasting the chassis legs.

The Rotiserie is the best way to work on it also got a bus at the spray painter on one atm

Quite funny I took out of storage a steering shaft and spare steering to start making a puller as I got 3 split buses I need to remove the steering wheels from
but then had a encounter with a Train Bridge concrete wall so once I am mobile again I will be building my Own Puller
And the Hot water trick works best

Progress has been a little slow:

We blasted the chassis rails and had to cut out and replace a few areas. The rails are now fully boxed in preparation for the x-member to go in. After that we'll get onto replacing the floor support structure and sills before starting to look at sheet metal...
