burning bus

Post by splitbusahollic »

After a couple of mates phoned to see if it was one of my buses burning in Cape road ,Port Elizabeth.... i shot down the road to go look what the fuss was all about...
there is this Elderly German Guy who i think has had this bus since new ! it is a westy but literally held together by fiberglass (DIY style repairs)....he also has a ton of clutter..(newspapers and all sorts of stuff) filling the rear.... well his engine caught alight but luckily someone was at hand to help him and the fire brigade was there in two ticks !
close shave......
here are some pic's...

Is there anyone on the forum that is in the fire extinguish business ??
are you looking to add some interesting products to you list ?
if there is then please PM me as i have been offered an agency from a company that deals with built in Automatic fire extinguishers that fit's in engine compartments of cars, boats, machinery etc.
They even have some that are purpose designed specifically for aircooled cars but i don't have the time to add this to my schedule.
the pricing looks reasonable too.....
only if you are serious please.
this works in a very interesting way....when the fire(heat) hits the tube,it actually pops in that specific area and blasts foam directly on the fire without flooding the whole engine compartment !

This looks like bus for sale on East Coast Classics website

http://www.eastcoastclassics.co.za/cp/10114/for-sale

"The camper was purchased new by David Reid Henry who was a well known wild life Artist and the bus features in some of his paintings.

The bus was sold in 1983 and is a second owner since new.The colour was changed from candle wax red to yellow in 1985.The dash and interior metal is still candle wax red.

The body has never been repaired/welded and has no rust(only surface rust around safari, pop out windows and one headlight that has allowed water in)

The bus is in brilliant condition and needs a caring owner.

The bus is a runner.

R250 000

Those fire suppressant systems have been available for a while now. I am considering putting one into Gill's bus. Especially considering the location of the fuel tank. Used to use Halon as a extinguishing medium, but I don't know what they use these days since Halon burnt a hole in the ozone or something... some tree-hugger told me...

Foam... they use foam... 8)
