Hallo all you good People
Is there a visible difference between a 1600cc and 2000cc Bus engine
Is there somewhere in the vin number a digit that indicates what my Bus's engine size should be
Also, what spec changes are there on a 2000L Executive compared to the standard and what year did they surface

Regards

yes, they are two totally different engines
1600 is a T1 engine aka - beetle engine
2000 is a T4 engine, aka bus engine.
Yes, the 1600 was used in some busses.

Obvious way to tell is the T4 has the fan mounted on the crank, not belt driven like a T1. Also the inlet ports on a T4 are about 10cm apart from each other where on the T1 they are about 3cm apart if it is a twin port, otherwise there is only 1 port.
The T4 also has an oil filter

ThanX Tony,

That there in the engine "Bay" is now definately a 1.6 tp, I also know now. That other motor coming is a 2.0.
Now the next thing is, how do I change this setup to electronic ignition, is this difficult to do...................

ThanX, from what TonyZ said, up-Top, the difference in the distance on the inlet port should tell them apart. I had a measure with the eye and that is definately not 10cm but rather 3cm. I am posting a pic to show you guy's

That there motor is be a type 4 for sure, what is not so sure, is that it may be a 1800 cc or 2000 cc.
