Re: Adjustable Beam and springplates, Legal or not?
You dont, you do it afterwards... unless you are brave or foolish enough to first do the dirty and then take your vehicle for roadworthy. If your vehicle deviates in any manner from what is considered by the traffic officer/authority as un-roadworthy for your make and model year, they have the right to revoke your license disk, until said vehicle is made to be roadworthy again, and it passes the roadworthy test at the testing station the authorities exclusively send you to...
Of course it wont be anywhere close to being SABS approved.

Re: Adjustable Beam and springplates, Legal or not?
What you need to do is make sure your car passes all the checks they are supposed to do. You need to know all the checks they are supposed to do. You should do all those checks yourself before you go, at least all those you can do, wipers, lights, oil leaks, tyres, windscreen cracks etc.
There is no check that says: "Car should be "more or less lekka ga-tune" in accordance with the uninformed opinion of the inspecting official who would have had a better job if he'd had the education."
It's the same with registration. You should know exactly what is expected, and what the process is. If you leave yourself at their mercy, you will be a victim.

Muderick , my car has a adjustable beam and adjustable springplates, and my license is paid up to date, but the ghost squad took my license disc for being too low, i was in the road of the show i attended.
Does anyone have a copy of the roadworthy checks? so i can make my car roadworthy again, for the second time, just to get my disc back

Ahh... I thought as much. They are getting real tough down here in Cape Town and most of them prey on the victims before and after a car show.
how low exactly is your car? Turn the adjusters up a few inches and turn the rear up a few notches and that should do it. Where did they tell you to take your bug for re roadworthy? Parow or Goodwood? If they did not tell you how much higher it should be then use your discretion. If they pulled you over the next day, they should see the difference. A friend of mine has had his disc pulled 3x and is currently still not allowed to legally be on the roads.

By the way, a family member always makes a good quality copy of his license disc and puts that on the windscreen. Original disc stays at home. Probably not legal.

Yes. A friend of mine had a photocopied disc and the cops wanted to arrest him for fraud ...Dawie wrote:By the way, a family member always makes a good quality copy of his license disc and puts that on the windscreen. Original disc stays at home. Probably not legal.
I guess they assume that if a photocopied disc is in use then there's a cloned car on the road somewhere.

Re: Adjustable Beam and springplates, Legal or not?
Once searched for the law referring to minimum legal height of a vehicle. Think it was stated at 125mm. Not sure if that was empty or fully loaded condition.
From this, one could assume that the maximum allowable height of a speed bump would be not higher than this.

Good question... No idea about those, but a standard Porsche 911 has 125mm ground clearance according to tape measure.

Did they write out a ticket as well? What did it say on the ticket... any mentioning of which offence/regulation/rule was applied?

Re: Adjustable Beam and springplates, Legal or not?
I didnt get a ticket , only a paper that says lowered suspension, but they took my disc and told me to drive home with the car, and rise it. but i must do the whole roadworthy check.
Will they check the beam and springplates at roadworthy center? if not i will just fix what i need to.

Re: Adjustable Beam and springplates, Legal or not?
Wait a minute...Maybe it's still marked on enatis as roadworthy. If license renewal time is near you might still get a normal renewal notice in the post. If you are sure it's still marked as roadworthy on the system, then maybe just apply for a new disc.
