1976 Rebuild

Post by flybynite »

Hi Guys,

The restoration of my little Beetle is now nearly done. I know some guys are going to crucify me for changing the color but I really really want a yellow Bug. The work is done by a very pedantic old school panelbeater and I pop in daily to learn.

Will post some pics of the completed seats and door panels later.....

Regards

Larry

Thank you!! The seats are done. Going to fit the doors etc, polish it and rubberize it and then send it for interior before fitting the windows. Engine is a standard 1600 twin port which pulls very well. I put the Beetle through C.O.R. before the rebuild so at least that is one less worry. All the new rubbers and chrome parts beading etc has arrived so I am super excited. I made sure that it is the proper VW yellow.

Popped in today and took some cellphone pics

Doors are now fitted and upholstery is next.....

Will post some proper pics soon. The paint is not polished yet but is super smooth after sanding it down lightly. Going to keep the Rosstyle Rims and just refurbish them to new condition.

That looks brilliant.

It looks exactly like the one that I rescued from Sasol's car park in Secunda (many, many moons ago) and rebuilt for use in the factory, by our then divisional manager.
