Ghia ignition

Post by Rincewind »

Originally the ignition for my 66 Ghia was operated from the dash.. But now the ignition is on the steering column and the dash one doesn't work.. Why would some1 change this? I bought it like this but didn't know enough to realise it when i bought it.. Could it have something to do with the fact that the car was converted to 12v electrics at some stage?

The actual ignition lock shouldn't have anything to do with 6v/12v as I see it.

It probably F'ed out, and some Moron couldn't be bothered to fix it, so he replaced it with another, like most VWs have been tampered with.

Do you think it would be possible to change the ignition back?

I don't see why not. Test the OG lock, and remove the steering column rubbish.
