How hot do gearboxes get?

Post by Merlin »

's up all?

I'm considering giving myself a coronary, and having my engine block ceramic-coated, in colour.

I've been told painted blocks flake after a few months due to the heat generated, hence the ceramic option.

Two things are bugging me...

1. How much does the gearbox generate - would it need to be ceramic-coated too?

2. If I ceramic'd the block only, would it match the painted colour closely? Black.

Thanks, N.

You won't see your gearbox anyway, unless you put mirrors under it. Clean it thoroughly to the stock standard aluminium grey colour!

Painted it is. ;)

If the ceramic guys can guarantee me a colour match with the block, black it goes, with detailed on the 'box.

The bottom must end up like the top...mirror-finish.

I'm going full-circle on my bug boys. ;)
