Aircooled Photo challenge

Post by JamesD »

Lets try something that looks fun and that I found on another forum

The concept:
A challenge is determined that requires you to drive (one of) your Aircooled VW's to a place as described. Ideally that should be a drive that is considerably more than 10 minutes from home.
You take a photo of your car that includes the place/object described. The photo is nothing more than evidence that you have completed the challenge.
A marker item must be noted for each challenge and included in the photo to demonstrate that this is a new photo taken to meet the challenge. The marker item should be something that you might normally or easily have in your car or find at/near the location.
Once the challenge has been satisfactorily completed by one person, a new challenge is set ASAP. ie this is a never-ending series of challenges.

Some rules:
The aim of the challenge is to drive your car to an interesting place, take a photo and enjoy the experience. You may have such a location just 5 minutes from home but extend yourself and go somewhere further away.
This is not about the quality of the photography. Phone camera pics are as acceptable as high end DSLRs as long as the photo is reasonably clear.
Creativity encouraged but not essential.
Photoshop or other image manipulation is not acceptable except for the purpose of resizing, cropping and/or straightening the picture.
Any type of Aircooled VW car may be used as long as it is driven to the location (So no modern VW and NO water pumping GOLFS (if it is Aircooled then it is fine  ). Only bugs, buses, buggies, type 3's, 181's etc etc even if they are now water pumpers are allowed).
The photo does not have to be of the whole car but it must be identifiably an Aircooled VW.

For geographical reasons, not all challenges will be achievable for all members but they should be realistic for the majority.

The prize?
Apart from some driving fun and kudos for fulfilling the challenge you get to set the next challenge according to the conditions outlined above.

I'll start by setting the first challenge. To get the ball rolling this should be pretty easy for everyone.
Your car parked next to a RANDOM Aircooled VW (not also one of yours) in a parking lot. The marker is a pair of sunglasses on your car, hanging on the wipers OR the side mirror.

Good Luck and have fun!

Take the Quick poll here to give some initial feedback so we can see if there are sufficient people interested in playing'
http://www.aircooledvwsa.co.za/viewtopi ... =1&t=30249

Oops, the Poll was deleted by accident. Looks like people are keen to play so lets get out there and take some pictures!

Ps, the marker can even be something on the car like your boot needs to be open or the passenger window needs to be half way up and the drivers window down. Be creative.

Tell you what, If you swop out the motor in the Golf for a type 1, type 4 or old school aircooled Porsche motor then you in!

But I think that would be crazy to do just for a Photo competition! What I am getting at is that it needs some Aircooledness about it, either it used to be Aircooled or is currently Aircooled. Will amend the top post!

The distance from home is a guide line  not a rule! It is more to get you to drive your car :hangloose:
BUT the marker is a rule! Where is the sun glasses? You so could have won!

I could have won on Wednesday afternoon but did not have sunglasses, still took the pic though.

On a side note, Picture of the month is going to get a lot more pictures :D And I like yours!
