Bus people...my door is broken!
's up all?
I tried to get out of the bus this morning but something broke inside when I pulled the handle.
I can open the door fine from the outside.
I obviously haven't a chance to open the bludy thing up yet, but what could be the issue?
Thanks, N.

It's a F'ing bitch getting those handles off, but I don't have much of a choice...both sides have to come off.
I'd like to think it's something loose, but it sounded a tad worse.

The front door locks on splits are a weak point. It sounds like the linkage between the handle and the lock has come adrift, which shouldn't be too difficult to fix.
To remove the door card, first remove the door handle by using a blade to push the escutcheon back against the spring (assuming all these bits are still in place). This will expose a small brass pin which holds the handle on. Use an appropriate drift (a small nail is good) to drive it out. Sometimes these are flared on top from fitting, so be sure to drive it out from the bottom or it will get stuck.

Will do Fig.
Thanks.
I got our mate to sort the other side out when the engine was done...those escutcheons are a real tight fit.
I'll have that broken off piece sampled from the drivers side while I'm at it, and hav a spring shop make up a few for me.
N.

For anyone interested, I've just taken my door apart, and the lockbox sheered a cast plate in half.

I had to pry the folded box open to get at it, and it's not fixable.
Mr. Fig is looking for a spare from a broken lockbox for me, otherwise I will have to source a new lockbox.
The plate was the connection between the internal mechanism and the handle, which is why it no longer works.
The outside handle directly pushes against the lock, so it continued working without fault.

Replacing the lockbox will not affect the outside, so I will be able to keep my existing lock and key.
In case you were interested.

OooooooKaaaaay ... Now I get it! When you called I thought you wanted a lock barrel.
It's unusual for them to break there; they usually break on the opposite side, where they attach to the door.

Sorry, my explanation was not the best.
Same reason my lecturing career never went anywhere. *lol*
Any chance you got a spare lying around?
