"69" Beetle ID help.

Post by DaveGT »

Hello

South African now living in the UK, I've found a Bug that I'd like to buy, imported from SA to Malawi and then the UK, problem is it has limited paperwork and the engine number is incomplete, can anyone help me with an ID check?

I've requested details direct from VW but there is a bit of a backlog and I only have a week to secure the car.

Thanks

It's not standard, the rear valance has had the exhaust slots removed, the bumpers have been changed etc

According to the VIN in the pic it is a 70. The model changes was made in august of each year, so yours might be a late 69 ( build between august and december 69) if the documentation says its a 69.

Thanks Hippie1, I've been reading up today looks like it's an August 69, think I may have tracked the person that imported the car to the UK but I still don't know anything else about it, engine size etc, think it was originally white.
