Hi guys, looking for links to any past threads or info on converting a bus from LHD to RHD, including adding a side door on the left.

Cheers

Haha, from your thread title I thought you wanted to convert a RHD bus to LHD! Search thesamba.com forums. I remember a thread by an aussie who did this and posted all the details

It is doable, but not a small job. The biggest job is moving the cargo doors to the opposite side. IMO, you'd do better to leave the cargo doors on the RHS and add cargo doors on the LHS, to give you cargo doors on both sides. Then you need a RHD dash (I have one for you), a RHD steering box (hard to find), RHD pedal cluster and possibly a RHD pitman arm (not sure about that). If you want to do it right, you would also need RHD cab floor panels.

Things like brake lines and control cables would also need to be changed and repositioned. You would also need to swap the front seats and mountings around.

Lots of work, but can be done. I'm leaving my LHD '91 Westy as is for the moment as it's not that difficult to drive on our roads...

Leave it as is. Love my LHD westy. Its something different and a great conversation point.

I do understand that you are renting yours out but if your client got their license the honest way it is not a problem. Takes 5min getting used to.
