Hey guys
Did a quick search of the topics and couldnt find a thread on this so i decided to just ask. My 67 Bug ( Jnr ) does not have any means of protecting itself besides the door lock, and due to its age, the door lock can be opened if a would be criminal had enough time. This would make stealing Jnr even easier. What alarm system could one install to prevent theft of a vehicle or even just to make a loud noise should somebody try and break in / interfere with Jnr. Any help / feedback would be appreciated.
Regards
Rowan

Re: VW Security
I can't speak for alarm systems, but I consider an essential security item on any ACVW is a fuel cut-off solenoid at the tank outlet, with a hidden switch.
This provides both fire and theft security. Because there is a gravity feed of fuel to the engine on Beetles and buses, any fire that burns through a fuel hose becomes unfightable because the fuel keeps flowing. It's essential to cut of the fuel flow before starting to fight an engine fire.
It also offers theft insurance. When thieves target your car they are usually prepared to do whatever it takes to steal your car where it is parked. A fuel cut-of means if they succeed in stealing the car, it will have only the fuel in the float bowl and will soon cut out, hopefully somewhere where it will attract attention and cause the thieves to bail out.

Re: VW Security
I did a write up a few years ago on a simple system which prevents the car starting...
Its not an alarm system, but if you want home-made, then its something to consider

Re: VW Security
A standard alarm system will also work. Any alarm shop can help. That would assist is drawing attention to the car.
But as said, get a cut off switch to ensure the car isn't taken.
