Interested in buying a vw hippie van
Hi all, im interested in buying a vw hippie van. (not sure whats the names of the models). In addition, i have been told that the original engine is not that powerful, what would you recommend putting in, the engine has to be reliable, fuel efficient (because it will be daily driven) and have enough power to pull a trailer and more or less how much is it going to cost? In addition, what is the cost of restoring a hippie van interior and exterior?

Hi Lance, and
to ACVWSA!
You've just taken the first step to what will probably be a life-long commitment. This is a the right place to be, and to find the answers you are looking for. Just remember the old principle that if you ask one question to 10 different VW experts/fanatics, you will most probably get 10 different answers - so double-check all your facts. There will be setbacks , there will be tears
, but it is a journey absolutely worth it....

Have a look on the Internet on what you are looking for as far as ideas is concerned and post a pic or two that should give us an idea which type of hippy van you are interested in split, early or late bay. Good place to start.

Hi Lancehickley
Are you sure an old kombi is for you? Your requests are what you will get from a new car, not a 50 year old bus.

If you want anyone to actually sell you their kombi/bus, you might get into the habit of NOT calling it a hippie van.
