1967 SPLITSCREEN
Hi All,
I imported a South African Van from Ireland in March, Its a 1967 Splitscreen. Im hoping to get it booked in for an MOT over the next couple of weeks and get it registered for the UK roads. Unfortunately the M plate and Vin number has been removed. South African vw issued a separate VIN number but I'm wondering if theres a way in order to prove the age of the split screen? All i have is the first registered date not the manufactured date?
Thanks in advanced.

Re: 1967 SPLITSCREEN
Is the VIN number stamped inside the engine bay still present/visible ?
We did'nt have M plates unfortunately, but there should still be a plate with the VIN on the passenger side wheel arch, next to the rear side of the seat

Re: 1967 SPLITSCREEN
The vin plate was missing, so they gave it a new chassis number which they stamped into the body. The original Vin number is 237124322
On both documents the register number is TPB116C
I have 2 documents with the same vehicle register number TPB116C but one has the vin plate 237124322 And the other has AAPV0531590621099
Thanks for your help

Re: 1967 SPLITSCREEN
The register number is the National Traffic Register number and not of much use, except it's a the master identity of the vehicle.
The 237xxxxxx VIN is the original, and correct for a 1967 kombi. The AAPV VIN is a police-issued VIN. This was probably done because they didn't know where to find the VIN in the engine compartment when they couldn't find the VIN plate.
It's unlikely you will be able to find out any further info about your bus unless someone recognises it.

jacteifevans,
I suggest removing those images ASAP.
They will be used to commit licensing fraud locally.
Kind regards.

Re: 1967 SPLITSCREEN
Hi All, To Explain the reason i removed the image, I uploaded a picture of my South african certificate which had all the details on it. I was advised to take it down incase somebody tried to clone my split screen.
Thanks all
