Mid Engined Change over Gearlever system info needed.

Post by retrovan » Fri Oct 12, 2018 4:56 pm

Hi Guys

Anyone have the drawings for gear-lever mechanism changes to bring the gear-lever from the gearbox side to the engine side.

In other words, need to change the gear lever to mid engine format.

So the sequence will be Gear-lever - Motor - Gearbox.

Thanks in advance

Herman

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

So basically you need the setup of the gearlever as found on a formula Vee racecar or a Rsk porsche kitcar with a midmount engine

Here is perhaps a clearer image. It is a drawing of the original Porsche Spyder/Rsr mechanism. I'm in the process to reproduce it for authenticity sake, but there are easier ways to accomplish the sameImage

No, Haans, This can not be done...

What I can tell you is that I have collected the following;-

Rusty Beetle Body (road side display saved)
A type 4 2lt motor in sorry state
Type 4 Gearbox in unknown state
4 Pro-white rims with 195x 80R / 14 C tyres
Renault Scenic Back axle assembly with disk brakes
Opel McPherson struts with disk brakes
Opel steering rack
Corsa Power steering wheel assembly complete
Rusty split bus rear corner units
Lots of Laser cut steel sections.
and an overhead gantry with chain block.

And ....

Well you have to wait...

looking at the list, my guess is one of two things...
race car of sorts - but I think that is beyond his age bracket :flash: and he isnt going to use pro-whites on a track
so it is likely a rock crawler of sorts so he can easily cruise over Sani Pass next time.

my guesses anyway
