right now we have 94 online in the last 24 hours.... lots of names that I recognize, but it seems very few people have anything to contribute.
I know with my projects, I havent updated in a while but thats because I have nothing to really update.... its a problem

I used to be very active here, but there was a very toxic, negative vibe on the forum which led to many regulars leaving or just not participating anymore. Nobody wants to be attacked by rude trolls... That's what kills any forum in my opinion... So now there are more lurkers than contributors...

You are right, but if you ignore then they go away.

Would never have someone put me off anything I do with negativity, as the reason they need to use negativity, is to make them self feel more superior, with out the ability to do what you can do.

As they told you as a kid, empty vessels make the most noise.

Then suck it up and enjoy your self, as all positive input into this forum, will lead to some newbie, starting a project, get it done with the help of this forum, and feel better about himself, to lead a life of helpfulness to others he meets.

Not just the forum, general online aircooled scene in SA. Bought two Beetles and getting another next week, yet you have to contend with very little support, parts guys trying to make 200% margins or everything etc

I like the forum,..have learnt a lot albeit a bit of a pain in the arese for some,..but thats how I learn by scanning and asking questions!

Interesting.
I basically joined for info, contacts and spares as we are starting a bus project. It helps to have read up on some of the projects and seeing some of the struggles.
Will start up a good project thread as soon as the bus is done at the panel shop with all the pictures from that. Just waiting for the paperwork that it is officially ours.

As for the trolls, they are everywhere on every forum. I am a member of quite a few forums and admin on 2 of them. It is all part of the bunch. One just has to choose to read past them. As long as they don't chase away the real knowledgable people that contribute valuable info and things you can't find anywhere else!
